Upcoming Adult Programs

   March 29, Saturday – Teen Council Bake Sale, 10 am - ?  Donations accepted.  Profits from this bake sale will go towards the Teen Summer Reading Program.  Please drop off donations the day of the bake sale only.

   March 29-March 31 – Friends of the Library Book Sale.  Book donations will be accepted from March 5th to March 26th.  Clean out those closets, bookshelves, under the bed, etc!  Please do not donate textbooks, encyclopedias or magazines.  Thank you.

   April 4, Friday, Author Visit – BetterBody BetterLife, 6:30-8 pm.  Croix Sather, a local resident, will discuss his new book BetterBody BetterLife.  The BetterBody BetterLife Plan includes connecting the mind and body for permanent weight loss without dieting.  A book signing will follow.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library.

   April 9, Weds., Our Brain and Body When We Grieve, 6:30-7:45 pm.  Polly O’Connor-Corbani has taken some of the amazing breakthroughs in brain research to show in a gentle, respectful way why it hurts so much when a loved one dies and what choices we can make and steps to heal.

   April 12, Sat., Interactive Acrylic Paint Party, 10:30-1:30 pm.  A quick demo of new paints will be given and then participants will get to create artwork with the new user-friendly Chroma-Interactive paints.  For high school students and adults.  Bring your own water container, brushes and canvas (portable easel optional).  Disposable palettes and a variety of paint mediums will be provided.

Upcoming Programs for Children

   Wednesdays, Stay and Play, 10:30-11 am, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16.  Join other caregivers and their children for an informal playtime and socialization for all.  No registration required as this is a drop-in program for those dates listed.

   Thursdays, Drop in Storytime, 10:30-11 am.  Storytime with Ms. JoAnn every Thursday, unless school is closed.  Stories, music and movement for all ages.  No registration required.

   Storytimes -- Wee Ones, Mondays, 10:30-11 am. These storytiimes are six-week sessions with the following dates: 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5 and 5/12.  Registration opened on March 24th.

   Tales for Twos, Tuesdays, 10:30-11 am., 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/29, 5/6 and 5/13.  Registration is required and began on March 24th.

   More Stories Please for Fives, Fours and Threes, 1:30-2 pm, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/30, 5/7 and 5/14.  Registration opened on March 24th.

   Mondays, Storycrafters, 1:30-2 pm.  Children will hear a story and make a related craft with Ms. Jill for ages three and up – 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, and 5/19.  Registration began on March 24th.

   Friday, March 28, Make a Bird House, 4:15-5:30 pm.  Katie Stevenson will assist children in grades one to three in making a bird house to attract birds to the backyard.  This program is filled.

   Friday, March 28, Crochet Clique, 6:30-7:30 pm.  A parent/child club – children must be age ten and up.  Dee and Casey Stanziano will assist participants who have little or no skill.  Bring a crochet hook, pattern and yarn.  Class meets on 3/28, 4/25 and 5/16.  Registration began on March 14th.

   April 11, Friday, Poetry Reading, 6:30-7:30 pm.  Students in third to fifth grade will read their original poetry and a reception of light refreshments will follow.  Sponsored by the New Fairfield School Enrichment K-5 Program.

   April 13, Sunday, Dance, Song and Possibilities, 1:30-2:30 pm.  Learn what makes a song or dance craze and discover that anyone can invent a song or dance.  Brian Gillie will lead an interactive musical program for families to participate in together.

Friends of the Library

   As part of their fundraising events, Friends of the Library are inviting artists to submit their paintings and drawings which will be reproduced on note cards for sale in the library.  Local scenes would be appreciated; however, other subject matter would also be considered.  Artwork selection will be decided by the Friends.  Paintings may be submitted to New Fairfield Public Library, 2 Brush Hill Road, attention Linda Decker.” The above information appears in the Candlewood Art League flyer.
