Bookflix
The library is pleased to offer pre-K to
third grade age children a new way to read books. Bookflix from Scholastic is
“a new online literacy resource that pairs classic video storybooks from Weston
Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to build a love of reading
and learning. The engaging way to link
fact and fiction, Bookflix reinforces early reading skills and introduces
children to a world of knowledge and exploration.” This site contains educational games and
terrific educator resources. Check out
the link from our homepage at www.newfairfieldlibrary.org. Find the links below the picture of the
library under “Library News” that say “Bookflix from Home or Bookflix (from
within the library). All you have to do
is enter your library bar code number from your library card when Bookflix is
accessed from home. It is very easy to
use.
Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library will be having a
book sale the weekend of March 29-31. If
you have any items to donate, please bring them to the Community Room during
library hours. Please do not bring any
encyclopedias, textbooks or magazines.
While shopping for books on Saturday, March 29, the Teen Council will be
selling baked goods to benefit the Teen Summer Reading program.
The Friends of the Library would like your
help in addition to supporting their upcoming sale. As a fundraiser, they would like to publish a
cookbook with proceeds to benefit the library. However, a cookbook without recipes is pretty
much not worth reading or buying! Forms
for submitting your favorite recipes are available on both levels of the
library. Please place the forms in the
collection boxes by June 1st.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Anne of Green Gables
On Saturday, May 3 at 2pm, the Friends of the Library
will be hosting an “Anne of Green Gables” program similar to the “Little Women”
program held this past December. It is
recommended that adults and children wishing to register for this program
consider reading the book and/or watching the movie. The library will have a few extra copies of
the book and movie available so that participants may be able to make a
connection with the story.
Lost and Found
The library has come into possession of two
very nice rings that were found by patrons while at the library. If anyone is missing a ring, please call or
come, describe it, and if it meets the criteria, it is yours.
