Bookflix
The library is pleased to offer pre-K to
third grade age children a new way to read books. Bookflix
from Scholastic is “a new online literacy resource that pairs classic video
storybooks from Weston Woods with related nonfiction eBooks from Scholastic to
build a love of reading and learning.
The engaging way to link fact and fiction, Bookflix
reinforces early reading skills and introduces children to a world of knowledge
and exploration.” This site contains
educational games and terrific educator resources. Check out the link from our homepage at www.newfairfieldlibrary.org. Find
the links below the picture of the library under “Library News” that say “Bookflix from Home or Bookflix
(from within the library). All you have
to do is enter your library bar code number from your library card when Bookflix is accessed from home. It is very easy to use.

Library Hours
Please be cognizant of the library hours when planning
to visit us. The hours are listed in the
masthead above this column. It can be
very disappointing to those who make it a point to come here to print something
out, take out particular materials, make copies, etc., only to realize that we
will be closing in two minutes.
Library Staff
News Flash! Several community members have mentioned
in conversations with us that they thought only the librarians were paid and
that the rest of the staff members were “volunteers.” Be assured, all of the employees here
are paid, including the teenage pages who shelve our resources. We do, however, have some wonderful volunteers
who perform specific tasks. The Friends
of the Library is a volunteer group as well.
The Library Board members do not receive a salary for their time and
effort as they are elected officials.
Our volunteer ranks tend to swell more during the summer when we need
assistance with the children’s summer reading program. We all work together as a team to provide the
public with service and materials.
